Bath is a world heritage site and amongst the most popular tourist destinations in the United Kingdom with an estimated 1 million overnight and over 3.8 million day tourists per annum. Bath is located 13 miles to the south-west of Bristol and 10 miles south of the M4 motorway, junction 18. The city also has a regular rail service to London and Bristol.
Bluecoat House is considered an important heritage asset, originally constructed in 1860 as a school but more recently used as government offices. The proposed refurbishment will provide a restaurant on ground, lower ground and part first floor. The remainder of the upper floors will be converted into high quality residential accommodation comprising four-one bedroom and one-two bedroom flats. The exterior will also receive a facelift to tie in with wider plans the council has for Saw Close.
