Location

Chester is a historic walled city situated approximately 20 miles south of Liverpool and 44 miles south west of Manchester. It is both the administrative centre for the County and a major tourist attraction, with a long established retail centre. It is well served by road communications, being close to both the M56 and M53 motorways, whilst the A55 provides easy access to North Wales. Chester is an established retail centre providing goods and services to local residents and employees, together with the substantial tourist population. The main shopping centre in the City is the Grosvenor Centre which extends to approximately 225,000 sq ft. The prime retail street includes the pedestrianised section of Eastgate Street from The Cross, running east through the City Wall into the non-pedestrianised Foregate Street, where there are larger units.

The retail centre in Chester is characterised by a historic feature of the buildings known as “The Rows,” which are galleried and covered walkways accessed by stairs between ground floor retail frontages at various points to the main retail street. The galleried walkways effectively provide pedestrian access to an upper level of separate retail unit frontages situated above those at street level. The subject building incorporates access from both a street level unit frontage and a “Rows” level unit frontage. The property is located on the south side of Eastgate Street close to the crossroads of Watergate Street, Bridge Street and Northgate Street. It is situated within the main pedestrianised retail area of Chester City Centre.
